A Mother’s Powerful Words

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14 NASB

A mother’s words are very powerful. Our words instruct our children, telling them right from wrong. Our words communicate our deep love and caring. Our words correct our children when they’ve misbehaved. A mother’s words have a tremendous impact on the shape of our children’s lives and spirits.

Our words are powerful in another way. Our words have a tremendous impact on God. God listens carefully to what we have to say—and He is influenced by what we say too. We must choose our word carefully. Our prayers to God should always be said with love and honor and wonder—and always end in gratitude for the blessings of this life. We want the words of our mouth to be pleasing and acceptable to God, who loves us and wants to give us His very best.

May the words of our mouths be acceptable to God today.
