Security.

A shocking crime happened last Friday in front of a fast food restaurant in Quezon. A man was shot dead by another man but I didn’t know if that crime was brought out in the public through the media. I’m just able to watch the video that was recorded through the CCTV system of the fast food restaurant. The security system was installed by our company and the restaurant is one of our clients. I was really shocked that crimes like this do really happen even at broad daylight. Its a blessing that the restaurant was able to capture the scene ince a security camera was installed outside the store. This video will be one evidence that the police will be using for their investigation.

It made me think that a security system is really an import investment not just by big businesses but by small ones as well. I know that some security system is a bit pricey but there are small business security system that small business owners can avail. When you have a business you should not take the risk, secure your business with a reliable security system.

Word of the Day: Loquacious

Loquacious \loh-KWAY-shuhs\, adjective:

1. Very talkative.
2. Full of excessive talk; wordy.

Examples:

The meeting went on for hours, accommodating loquacious bores who were each allowed their say.
-- Andrew Sullivan, "Gay Life, Gay Death", The New Republic, December 17, 1990
In drawing a sharp contrast with the loquacious Ginsburg, her new lawyers appeared for just a few moments and said virtually nothing to reporters before retreating into the building.
-- Peter Baker, "Lewinsky Replaces Ginsburg", Washington Post, June 3, 1998
Blatant symbolism combines with outrageous humor. This ad campaign has continuity, for the preceding ad featured the loquacious bottle talking to a tomato.

Amazed Shopper :)

My little lady was amazed with the machine with a barcode scanner at the supermarket when we we bought some snacks this afternoon. I think most of the supermarkets now already have this machine where buyer can scan their commodity to know the price before they proceed to the check out counter. It’s really a helpful tool especially for us moms, right? So when the little girl finally learned how to use it, she scanned everything on her shopping basket, lol!

No INTERNET at Work

The last three days that we didn’t have internet connection in the office, I just busied myself finishing the things on my TO DO list. I was able to order my UPS for my pc, additional office supplies and replacements. Plus I was able to finish filing all the documents for file. My boss is out of the country so still, I’m not stressed out. It’s just hard to work pretending that you’re still in the primitive age. But we don’t have a choice. I just hope that everything will be back to normal next week.

It's HERE!

I have been waiting for my photo book from artscow since last week of September but it didn't arrived on the time that I expected. Then, last Thursday I saw the parcel notice from the post office. I know it's my photo book already since I'm not expecting anything aside from it so I asked hubby to get it for me. So yesterday, when I got home, I was so excited when I saw this:

I immediately opened it and whoala! I can't believe that my first photo book order is already on my hands. I'm so satisfied with it, so is the little girl who kept on hugging it and flipping its pages. Why not when it's all about her first birthday... a long overdue project that was done just now :D.

I can't wait to receive my second order. I'm just a bit sad that all my free photo books already expired. I wasn't able to order them because of my busy schedule and internet connection, sigh....

Oh well, I just hope that I'll be able to get another free photo book from them.

Online Degree

I know you’ve already heard a lot about the advantages of taking up your master degree on line. Well, here’s additional relevant information which I hope will help in making up your mind in choosing whether taking up your masters online or the traditional way.

There are a lot of schools out there offering masters and PhD courses but not every one of them offers online education. Online master degree is one of the services that Gonzaga University, one of the best and among the top ranked university in the US, is offering to professionals who wish to take up their advance education without fuss.

One of the benefits of taking up your degree online is that it offers flexible time for students who may have a hard time due to the demands of their busy schedules and of course the internet is a very accessible tool anytime of the day so students can choose the time that will suit them best. That’s why I believe that taking up your master degree online is much better nowadays.

I was able to attend our management’s meeting last Thursday and one of their agenda is how to push one of our products, the CCTV system package. CCTV system is presently one the most in demand products today due to rampant robberies even company’s own personnel. I was able to watched a news the other night about a security guard who was caught in the act robbing the company where he works as a security guard. The management was able install a CCTV system for identity theft protection and indeed, it was able to help them distinguish the real thief. With this information, our management is now pro active to really push the product nationwide.

I recently watched an evening drama series that just ended last month. I wasn’t able to watch its final episode because of some conflicts on my schedule. I didn’t like how the series ended though some says it's just okay. But for me, it was a sad ending. Weeks before it ends, almost all the main casts died. Some died that even an AED could not helped them survived. And when rumors spread that the series will have a book 2, I almost said, please…ENOUGH! :)

Well, some TV series can really get through your system.

Word of the Day: Triskaidekaphobia

Triskaidekaphobia \tris-ky-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh\, noun:

Fear or a phobia concerning the number 13.

Examples:

Thirteen people, pledged to eliminate triskaidekaphobia, fear of the number 13, today tried to reassure American sufferers by renting a 13 ft plot of land in Brooklyn for 13 cents . . . a month.
-- Daily Telegraph, January 14, 1967
Past disasters linked to the number 13 hardly help triskaidekaphobics overcome their affliction. The most famous is the Apollo 13 mission, launched on April 11, 1970 (the sum of 4, 11 and 70 equals 85 - which when added together comes to 13), from Pad 39 (three times 13) at 13:13 local time, and struck by an explosion on April 13.
-- "It's just bad luck that the 13th is so often a Friday", Electronic Telegraph, September 8, 1996
Despite NASA's seemingly ingrained case of triskaidekaphobia, which forced managers to impose the bizarre, '13-free' numbering system on its flights, the crew of perhaps the most important Shuttle mission to date clearly were unsure if STS-41C was supposed to be unlucky or not.
-- Ben Evans, Space Shuttle Challenger: Ten Journeys into the Unknown

If I'm not what I am right now, I would be...

...a professional make-up artist.

Being a typical woman that I am, I fancy colorful makes ups and cosmetics. I love owning and using them though I know I’m not an expert user. But I do my own make-up when I go to the office or even when I attend formal occasions. And so far, my own work has not failed me yet.

I did not go to any cosmetic schools or any michigan cosmetology schools but a lot of my friends trusted me when it comes to make-ups. They would even ask me to do it for them and one of my sisters is my regular customer. She would always brag about her make up to her sisters in law when they attend formal occasions. And it gives me a great feeling whenever they give me feedback afterward. I feel happy that they are happy with what I did for them.

If I’ll only have the extra time and money, I would definitely consider going to a beauty school to enhance my skills in cosmetology, become a professional makeup artist and maybe build my own salon. I believe it’s something that won’t just give me satisfaction but it could be another source of extra income right?

Word of the Day: Reverie

Reverie \REV-uh-ree\, noun:

1. A state of dreamy meditation or fanciful musing.
2. A daydream.
3. A fantastic, visionary, or impractical idea.
4. Music. An instrumental composition of a vague and dreamy character.

Examples:

Walking seems to have become Rousseau's chosen mode of being because within a walk he is able to live in thought and reverie, to be self-sufficient, and thus to survive the world he feels has betrayed him.
-- Rebecca Solnit, Wanderlust: A History of Walking
He was pulled out of his reverie by the buzzing of his cell phone.
-- Robert O'Harrow, No Place to Hide
From reveries so airy, from the toil
Of dropping buckets into empty wells,
And growing old in drawing nothing up.
-- William Cowper, The Task. Book iii. The Garden. Line 188.

Think Thrice

Is liposuction cosmetic surgery in Chicago Illinois cheaper than in Thailand? I don't think so, since a lot of people are even traveling all the way to Thailand just for their cosmetic surgeries. And Thailand has been very well-known not just for simple liposuction or nose lifts but for every successful major transplant operations. Even Filipinos go there to ‘transform’. When they return, they are already a different person. ..Well, physically.

I don’t know why but a lot of people are addicted to cosmetic surgery. The late Michael Jackson has been one of them. Sometimes, it starts in a simple nose job then a number of surgeries will follow. I’m not sure but maybe cosmetic surgeries have psychological effects to some patients. When they get addicted, they want everything changed until they look totally different. I heard of some suicidal attempts as well that are connected to cosmetic surgeries. That is why it’s very important for patients who wish to do this, to undergo psychological consultations before deciding to change whatever part of their bodies. Because one thing is for sure, once changed, you can never get it back.

Her favorite food.

My little girl loves “sopas”.

Whenever we go to the grocery and she’s with me, she will always remind me to buy macaroni for sopas. And we when we arrived home, she will immediately ask me to cook it for her. Yesterday we went to the grocery and I let her push the mini grocery cart. Sure enough she grabbed a pack of macaroni and told me that she wants sopas. When we got home, she asked me to cook it but I told her that I’ll cook it the next morning. At first she’s insisting that I’ll cook it now but after a long haggling, she agreed.

I do love it when my little girl requests me to cook her favorite food. It’s also a great feeling when gives me a hug, a kiss, and a thank you after.

At Work

I was not able to go online last week. I have so many online tasks to finish but was not able to do since I have tons or offline workloads and also, our IT personnel have blocked some sites that I visit regularly. I was not able to open edit or post to my blog since blogger has been blocked. Aside from that, I can’t go online even at home when I found out that my LCD monitor was broken. Maybe it was accidentally hit by something when we left in to the evacuation center…so sad.

But looking at the bright side, I was able to work with less interruption. Sans the continuous ringing of the telephone it could be so much better. I wish we can reformat our PABX system in a way that I can work without constantly picking up the phone. Actually we already have this speech recognition system but still all the calls are transferred to me when it fails to function well, which, by the way, happens almost all the time. I wish it will be fixed and maybe enhanced a little bit with courtesy and predictive dialers so I won’t be disturbed often.

A good working environment is a place every employee wants to be, right?

A Vacation?

Hmm...maybe, one thing we need right now...

Our friend abroad is inviting us to go to her place for a family vacation. I know this isn’t the right time to spend on the not so important matters but I am considering the offer. Honestly, we want to go out. We want to go somewhere that is relaxing, a place where we can forget even for a while all the things that happened recently. The turn of events lately has caused stress to so many people, including us. Some people are even thinking of leaving the country to be free from all the stress and worries that they are now experiencing. They are already scared to live in our city.

Anyway, a good vacation can be a helpful means to relax our mind and bodies…especially if it’s in the secluded white-sand beaches on the Mexican Riviera Maya. It can be truly relaxing..

Why?

I was able to watch the news last night and saw how typhoon Pepeng ruined some provinces in Luzon. I felt sorry for those people looking so miserable now...

I know some people are already questioning God why all these happened to our country. But for me, I know God allowed this for a reason. Let's just keep on praying that all of us will be comforted amidst these tragedies and let us just look on God. He knows and directs everything in this world.

Lesson Learned

During the typhoon and the devastating flash flood, a lot of establishments herein our city including banks were affected. One major establishment here was drastically ruined. It’s a mini mall with establishments like banks, restaurants, and amusement park. Three weeks has passed and until now, I’m still not sure if it will still recover. The banks have not opened yet though I saw one prominent fast food chain is not back to business.

I’m thinking about all the offices and so many major banks that were affected. I know a lot of these establishments were caught unprepared. How will they restore important documents? Were they able to save some tangible data? Do these banks designed special place to store tangible data and documents? Do they have a remote credit card storage system? I hope they do. I hope that after this event, all of us will be more prepared now and more caring to our environment.

The recent calamity has been an eye opener for many of us. It has taught us so many lessons in life. I just hope that those in the government have also learned their lesson. It just so sad that we learned it the hard way.
