Quite Alarming

>> Feb 28, 2010

The news about the age of Filipinos getting HIV gets younger over the years was quite alarming. I watched our local news one time and this is what they reported. And those at call center sector are the working class that was reported with the highest HIV positive cases. It was sad news. I was thinking, what then will be the society’s condition when the time my children reached their teenage years? I just hope that this specific social problem will be handled well by our government. I hope they will come with a solution to prevent the younger generation to engage into activities that will caused them to get HIV or give them proper warnings, proper education about such.

And if a person already has HIV or supposes himself to have such, I hope that our government and social entities will help them by creating programs like Anonymous HIV Test. That way, a patient will not get embarrassed and will be able to get help as soon as he’s diagnosed. HIV patients usually got scared and embarrassed and some of these patients aren’t even sexually active.

Our society and our world are really drastically changing. But there’s hope if we will continue praying for the world we live in.

Looking Forward to my FAST Recovery

Since we transferred we haven’t bought book shelves yet. We have book shelves before but it was ruined by the flood when typhoon Ondoy hit us. Now all our books are still on boxes including my husband’s and my college textbooks. Now that my brother needs one particular text book, I can’t lend it to him since it’s hard to go through the books inside those boxes. And my present condition hinders me from moving around to look for some things that I need to find.

Sigh…I am really looking forward to the day that I’m fully recovered. I want to fix the house, arranged some things and put them in order. I want to go out and by some things that I want for the house, cook food for the family, and of course, personally take care of my new baby. Because now, I still can’t do all of these. I hope I’ll recover fast.

I miss singing.

>> Feb 26, 2010

Sunday is coming. And yes, I can’t go to our church service since I am not yet fully recovered. Maybe after a week or two I can manage to walk normally and be able to attend church already. Oh, how I missed singing on our worship service every Sunday. Yes, I am one of the church worship leader though I know in my heart I am not an expert and a very good singer ( I didn’t undergo any music lessons, but I can be a soprano or an alto, and I know how to play with my voice, lol).

Anyway, I really missed singing. My last worship leading was the first week of January then I filed my leave since I was already eight months on the way. I found it hard to breathe and sing. already so I asked our leader that I'll take my rest early. As soon as I am fully recovered, I hope to be able to go back singing. Music is really my passion and using it for the Lord is one of the things I really, really love doing. It’s already a part of my life.

Warts.

>> Feb 15, 2010

I noticed that I developed quite a number of small warts during my pregnancy, especially on my neck and chest. I’m not used to feel small lumps on my skin. I’m not prone to pimples, let alone acne so I’ve never tried an adult acne treatment all my life so these warts irritates me at times. Sometimes they’re tickly that I accidentally scratches them then I'll remember that I should not do so because these warts maybe connected to a vein (my sister said) and scratching them might be dangerous. I feel unattractive with them, haha...Oh well, I'll just have it cauterized later.

Bouquet

I never thought I'll received a bunch of roses from the husband yesterday (valentine's day). I was only joking when I asked if he's not going to give me something sweet on v-day but he surprised me yesterday afternoon. When he fetched us from church he handed me this bouquet. I was touched. :) It's been a long time since I received flowers from him.

Midnight Snack

It’s midnight already and I’m still here catching with my online tasks while waiting for the husband as he prepare a midnight snack for me. This time he allowed me to stay up late because I need to eat at 12:30 am. I’m going to have my OGTT tomorrow morning and since it needs an 8 hour fasting for me, the husband has no choice but allow me to stay up and ate at midnight, haha! Now I have an excuse. If I’ll develop wrinkles because of this, I don’t have to worry. I can already use an anti wrinkle cream once I delivered my baby. I just pray that my test will result well so I don’t have to see and endocrinologist. That could be worst.

Love Day & Teacher's Day

>> Feb 14, 2010

Last Saturday was the little girl's Love Day / Teacher's Program at school. As usual, they did a little performance..and I'm one proud mommy. I could see now that the little girl is more confident singing in front of the crowd and she's enjoying it. They performed a song that the little girl would always sing (with action) whenever she went home from school. Today I saw it and I finally understood the message. It was a very touching song. The program also made the teachers cry because the parents and kids of all levels prepared something for them. We also gave her teachers token of appreciation for everything that they did for our daughter. It was a wonderful day.

Stop it for a while

When I learned that I’m pregnant I immediately stopped using any kind of skin products that can harm my baby, especially those that contain whitening ingredients. I also consulted my OB-Gyne for the products that I’m using to wash my skin and the phisoderm deep cleaning cleanser that I use every day. Right now I only wash my face with soap and warm water and removed my make up with petroleum jelly. I know for some, getting pregnant means sacrificing some beauty products that we use but we should know that we can still look beautiful but can’t be vain during pregnancy. We can still use some beauty products but just make sure that it does not contain any ingredient that is harmful to babies. It’s always important to think of the life inside you.

Word of the Day: Tarradiddle

Tarradiddle \tair-uh-DID-uhl\, noun;
also taradiddle:

1. A petty falsehood; a fib.
2. Pretentious nonsense.

Examples:

Oh please! Even in the parallel universe, tarradiddles of this magnitude cannot go unchallenged.
-- "Taxation in the parallel universe", Sunday Business, June 11, 2000
Mr B did not tell a whopper. This was no fib, plumper, porker or tarradiddle. There was definitely no deceit, mendacity or fabrication.
-- "Looking back", Western Mail, May 11, 2002
Other amendments, such as a chef at the birthday party, a dancing bear in the hunting scene, and a brief solo for the usually pedestrian Catalabutte, seemed more capricious, and the synopsis suggested further changes had been planned but perhaps found impractical. Some tarradiddle with roses for death and rebirth also necessitated different flowers for the traditional Rose Adagio.
-- John Percival, "The other St Petersburg company", Independent, November 22, 2001

It Hurts!

I told the husband yesterday that I will not come with them to attend his brother’s birthday celebration. I don’t feel like going because one, I already feel so much discomforts when I travel and two, their house is located on the last floor of his aunt’s 6-floor apartment without an elevator, how about that? But this morning I remembered that I have to claim a gift certificate from a famous hotel restaurant in Ortigas and the husband said we should claim it now since its valentine’s day. So off I went. When we arrived I already felt my knees shaking just looking at the stairs. But since I have no choice, I went up. When we entered the house, they all greeted me but commented that it looks like I’m already full! It’s a joke. But it kind of hurt me. I know I’m so big and I feel bloated and horrible but I don’t need weight loss products. I’m pregnant and I’m giving birth in 8 days people! Haayz…I really can’t wait to give birth and regain my old self, :D

Side story: We're not able to claim the value of the gift cert. The restaurant attendant said they blocked off gift cert during special promos and since today is valentine's day, we cannot claim the said gift...Haay...what a day! Oh well, I just told the husband to claim for me this week. I don;t want to travel again.

How About Gold Investments?

>> Feb 12, 2010

We have been contemplating even before the husband went home how we can earn additional income for the family. Now that we already have a new addition coming soon, the more we are pressured about thinking what’s the best business venture to take. So I started searching and reading about how to start our own business. While searching, I came across an article over the internet about investments. It featured the benefits of investments especially the benefits of investing in gold. The writer even advised investors that now is the right time to buy gold bullion. Gold has been tested to be one of the good investments so an investor can never go wrong. Well, after having read the article, I might consider this one though I’ll still look for more opportunities.

I told him to search for reviews first about the supplements that his aunt gave him before taking them, it’s better to be safe than sorry…I’ll be off this computer in a while. I want to sleep early coz it’s a working day again tomorrow…Haaayy, one more week and I can finally rest before giving birth.

Premier Tickets

c

I can't believe I was able to watched two movies in a row. I seldom watch movie in a year so this was a very rare event in my life, lol! Thanks to my office mate who gave me free premier tickets for The Blind Side and Dear John. She gave three tickets for the Blind Side and three tickets as well for Dear John so my husband and the little girl were with me on both events. We enjoyed both movies. I love the moral of the story of The Blind Side and I almost fell in love with Channing Tatum of Dear John...I hope to watch more premier nights this year...haha!

DP and Exercise matches.

My brother in law has been contemplating if he’ll take diet supplements to get rid of his flabby stomach, lol! His aunt sent him some FDA approved diet pills and so he’s torn whether to take them or not. He’s quite self-conscious now that he’s continuously gaining weight and almost changed all that’s in his closet. I told him that it’s OK to take them but make sure to couple it with the right exercise. I believe getting his desired weight could be more attainable in doing so. Exercise is still the best way to get fit, right?

Missing my family

I was teasing my brother that he needs to take the best supplements for building muscle. It’s because he’s skinny like a paper that he can be easily tossed by the wind, lol! Well, I seldom see him and when we do, we can just openly tease each other. I missed bonding with them and having time just to talk about things because when we moved to a different location, my parent’s house is now quite inaccessible. Unlike before where I can just go to their house anytime. I really missed my parents talking care of me just like my first pregnancy, because now that we’re quite far from them, I can’t tell them to come by when I need them. Sigh… it’s really different now.

Healthy Me

I just had my OGCT, HBsAg, and urinalysis tests this morning. I didn’t pass my OGCT test (that’s for glucose tolerance) so I need to have another test this week, this time it would be OGTT (sigh…another blood test with fasting, urgh!). But I’m thankful that I have normal urinalysis result. That means I have no problem with uti. It would be hard if I’ll have one. Before, I was prone to having urine infection because I love salty foods and cold sodas but I refrained drinking and eating this unhealthy foods when I got pregnant. Babys health need to come first right? Though there are supplements like herbal colon cleansers it’s still safe to just drink plenty of water and eat healthy food to avoid getting infections. ;)

Sensitive Skin

As much as possible I want my little girl to have a healthy skin. When she was just 3 months old she got allergic reaction when I tried to give her an ordinary feeding bottle (she uses Avent). Her lips got sores and peeled because of the teats. That’s when I knew she got sensitive skin. So from then on I always made sure that she’s given the right feeding bottle, she uses the right formula and all her things are hypoallergenic. I do not want her to have adult acne when she grow up so as early as now, I see to it that her skin are very well taken care of.

It was our monthly general assembly this afternoon and as expected, my colleagues who are based on our Quezon City office where we usually hold our GA were so surprised to see how big I am now at 36 weeks, lol! Well, that's understandable since we seldom see each other. We only meet during GA’s or when there are important meetings or things that I had to do in our QC office. One of my friend even joked that I should think about using relacore after giving birth, hahaha! Humm..they’re teasing me now that I’m big, they’ll see when I return from my ML…haha! The challenge to me now is to get back to my 45 lbs. body weight....(hoping! LOL!)

Still...patiently WAITING

My husband is in a hurry to get a job. I understand him so I am not putting pressure on him. His friends has been giving him referrals for jobs in Philadelphia, Belgium (a close friend gave him referrals), and Canada (where most of his friends and relatives live). He still has an offer to renew his contract from his former employer in the Middle East so while waiting (he's been waiting for 7 months now) for his visa to arrive, he still submits applications to the jobs referred by his friends. Whichever comes first, we'll be very glad to accept it and we are really praying that he'll get the job as soon as possible. He's been waiting far too long already but we're not losing hope. I believe God is never late. He's always on time in answering prayers. We're keeping the faith.

Word of The Day: Penchant

Penchant \PEN-chunt\, noun:

Inclination; decided taste; a strong liking.

Examples:

Ben was a dreamy little boy, recalls Hiddy, who always thought her brother's penchant for reveries might lead him to become an artist or a great philosopher.
-- Thomas Maier, Dr. Spock: An American Life
Field, in his personal comportment, maintained a penchant for austerity, a contempt for frivolity, and a "steely cold" disdain for any decision not based on fundamental business principles.
-- Roland Marchand, Creating the Corporate Soul
Even as an adolescent bookkeeper in a trading house in Cleveland, Rockefeller minutely recorded his charitable donations in ledgers, which confirm that from an early age he had a penchant for giving money no less than for making it.
